Listen to this story. Miss J came to see us because she was unhappy with her front crown. It was tipped at an angle and the colour didn’t look right. She was also aware that she had a tooth missing at the front next to the crown which meant she had an uneven number of teeth which gave her smile an asymmetric look.
On further inspection the tooth with the crown had an infection at the gum line with was unrestorable. The tooth adjacent to the crown also had a very uneven surface which had picked up staining.
Her main goal was to feel confident to smile again.
We discussed her options for replacing the infected tooth and she decided on a dental implant. This was a great treatment option for her as it replaced the tooth that was missing without any detriment to the teeth adjacent to the old crown.
A dental implant is a titanium screw that is carefully placed in the jaw to replace the root of the tooth. It has many advantages as it helps to preserve the foundation of your teeth which is bone.
Once the implant was placed by our highly trained expert implant surgeon, a temporary bridge was placed to make sure no gap was visible. After the implant had healed we carefully constructed the bespoke handcrafted crown which sits on top of the implant.
As well as fitting an implant, we also carried out composite bonding on the teeth adjacent to the crown to help give the smile more symmetry.
The results speak for themselves. Miss J was extremely happy with her final smile. This will last her many years.
