Clear aligners is a very discreet way of straightening your teeth (have a look at the photo on the right). Each aligner is worn for 2 weeks and is only taken out when eating or having a hot drink. It’s also very easy to clean your teeth. However due to the way the aligners work they do have limitations on what situations they are used for. They can also take twice as long to achieve your end result. Very careful planning is required by your dentist at the treatment planning stage.
Clear fixed braces is also a very popular choice. As you can see from the photo on the left, its relatively discreet. Although cleaning your teeth is slightly harder, your hygienist and dentist will be able to give you the best techniques to keep your teeth and gums clean. The big advantage is that more complex cases can be completed in a shorter time frame (average cases finish in 6-10 months!)
The questions that you need to ask yourself are these: “How quickly do you want to get your new smile?”
If its as fast as possible then go for the clear fixed brackets.
and: “Do I want to have it as discreet as possible even if it takes longer to complete?”
If this is important to you then clear aligners is for you, as long as your case is suitable.
