What is guided implant surgery?
Guided implant surgery is a modern approach to placing dental implants. It uses digital technology for incredible precision and accuracy, allowing us to plan the implant procedure to the tiniest details before treatment begins. A 3D model is used to ensure a safe and effective procedure with the optimum results.
Guided implant surgery removes the need for any guesswork around the placement of the implant, which can occur with the more traditional method. We know ahead of time exactly where the implants are going in your jawbone and how many will be needed. The guided process even means dental implants can be a viable option for people with bone loss.
What does guided implant surgery involve?
We begin your guided implant surgery treatment with a comprehensive consultation. We examine your mouth and discuss the treatment process with you, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions.
We take a comfortable dental CBCT scan of your mouth, enabling us to see detailed and high resolution images of the soft tissues, bones and teeth. These images are used to create an accurate 3D model, which helps us plan your treatment.
Using the bespoke surgical guide, we place your implants into the precise areas in your jawbone. This is an efficient and relatively quick procedure due to the careful planning we have done beforehand.
Your implant is left to heal and fuse with your jawbone, so a temporary restoration is placed to protect your gum. Once healing is complete, we fit your final custom-made replacement teeth and give you the first look at your new smile!
