One question that is always asked is how affordable is adult orthodontics? This is a great question.

Treatment for adult orthodontics can range between £2000 – £9000. So why is there such a broad range?

There are many factors that affect the fee for orthodontic treatment. Each orthodontic case is completely unique. Some cases require just a few teeth to move whereas other cases may require all the teeth to move. Some cases require just the upper teeth moving, some the lower and some both upper and lower. Certain types of teeth movement are more complex than others. A tooth with a single root is sometimes easier to move than a tooth with multiple roots.

There are many types of orthodontic appliances which work in different ways. Your dentist should have the experience of being able to discuss all your options with you.

The time frame for treatment can also vary between a few months to 3 years. Again this is dependent on what your goals are, what orthodontic system is used and what your starting point is.

The dentist providing your treatment will have had extensive training and expertise. Careful measurements will have been taken and a treatment plan for your case will be planned to suit your requirements.

The fees for orthodontic treatment would often include an orthodontic examination; all necessary radiographs; clinical photographs; treatment planning of your case; impressions of your teeth; fitting of your braces; monthly review appointments; fitting of your retainers; laboratory fees; orthodontic appliance fees; follow-up appointments and the skills and expertise of your dentist.

When discussing fees it’s important to keep things in perspective. Think of this: once you have reached your end result and you have a confident smile what would it mean to you and how much do you think it’s worth?

Consider the cost of monthly spend on make-up and beauty treatments which can be a lifelong cost, or the average cost of a car (circa £9000) which would last 3-6 years. Now compare that to the investment on your smile which will last you your LIFE TIME.

Finance plans allow you to pay £160 per month to help you achieve a confident smile. Is that within your budget? If so, let’s talk.
