If you use a whitening tooth paste regularly then you maybe damaging your teeth. That’s because of the way in which teeth whitening pastes work. They often have abrasive particles that can wear your teeth.
If you wear the enamel of your teeth down they will start looking darker. So I would recommend just using it once a week to remove superficial staining- NOT every day. Sensodyne have brought out a new toothpaste that whitens your teeth as well as not being as abrasive. But I would personally still be cautious.
Professional teeth whitening systems however are an excellent way to whiten your teeth. They are safe to use as long as you are shown properly how to do it. You need to have special custom fit teeth whitening trays made that are designed to seal the gel to just your teeth- NOT the ones that you make yourself with boiling water or the generic “one size fits all” trays.
You should have your teeth checked by your dentist first to make sure the teeth and gums are healthy and to ensure you are suitable for whitening your teeth. I always take before and after photos so you can see the final results yourself!
